SpongeBob (15 mins)

Organization

  • 30x20
  • Each player with a soccer ball

Instructions

  • SpongeBob (players) has to bring the secret Krabby Patty Formula (ball) across town for Mr. Krabs. Plankton (coach) wants to steal the Krabby Patty Formula.
  • Players must dribble their ball to the other side without coach kicking their ball out of bounds.
  • When players are knocked out, they become Plankton's helpers and try to kick other player's soccer balls out of bounds.
  • Play starts when coach yells, "Who lives under a pineapple under the sea?" and the kids will respond "SpongeBob Square Pants"

Coaching Points:

  • Head up
  • Small touches to control the ball
  • When you see space, take it and dribble quickly

Developments:

Regression: The formula is a pinnie and the players run with the pinnie tucked into their shorts

Progression: Plankton and his helpers have to knock the soccer balls out of bounds using their own soccer ball

Pirates of the Caribbean (10 mins)

Organization

  • 30x20
  • Balls set up on sideline
  • Cones, pinnies, other equipment used as 'Treasure'

Instructions

  • Pirates (players) start at the end line
  • Play starts when coach yells "Pirates are you ready?" 
  • After the pirates say "Arghhh" they will try to race to the treasure chest
  • Pirates (players) will pick up one item of treasure and bring it back to their starting point
  • While players are running, The Captain (coach) is looking to pass the ball and have the cannon hit their feet (must be below the knees)
  • When The Captain (coach) hits a pirate (player) with a cannon, that pirate helps The Captain get others out.
  • Last Pirate standing will win 

Coaching Points:

  • Keep your eye on the cannon balls and use different movements to not get hit
  • Move quickly across the sea
  • Keep your eye on the cannon ball when you hit it
  • Try to time the firing of the cannon ball so that the pirates run into it

Developments:

1. R - Make the sea narrower

2. P – Make the sea wider

Sonic the Hedgehog (10 mins)

Organization

  • 30x20
  • Each player with a ball

Instructions

  • Sonic (players) must dribble away from Dr. Ivo Robotnik (coach) who is trying to freeze Sonic using a pinnie and throwing it at their ball.
  • When Sonic is frozen, another player must tap them on the shoulder to unfreeze them.
  • Play 1-minute rounds, changing who plays Dr. Ivo Robotnik

Coaching Points:

  • Head up
  • Keep the ball close to protect it
  • Move into open space

Developments

1. R- play without soccer balls

2. P- play with multiple villains
