Specific practice out of possession / Switching play
Welsh way principles- understanding when to switch, When to make the pitch big, Who can switch it and the speed of the switch.
Explanation
The blue team will always start with a high ball-playing defender playing the ball into the channels with an aim to switch the ball to the opposite side of the pitch through the 3v2 zone to the Wing Back to deliver a cross into the box.
The defensive unit is to be managed to prevent being played through by staying deep and compact.
When managing the opposition its imperative to prevent the attacking team to playing through the defense and to force the switch of play and to create the overload on the side of the pitch that the ball is on.
Defensive triggers
RB, LB Triggers- When the opposition WB receives the ball in the channel, the left or right-back is to push up and close the gap as quickly as possible. When this happens the other defenders in the back 4 should all shift over and ignore the furthest player.
DM triggers - The two DM’s are to mark tightly goal side to the two the closest players in the 3v2, ignore the furthest player and heard the player in possession back towards the touchline. Be brave and touch in challenges. Don’t foul! it's important that the two dm's play to screen the ball and prevent being split and letting opposition to be played through. stay goal side.
If and when the defensive team win possession play the ball wide to the mini goals and push up the get the If and when the defensive team win possession play the ball wide to the mini goals and push up the get the whole team to push the back line forward team to push the back line forward

Explination
The blue team will always start with a hgh ball playing defender playing the ball into the channels with an aim to switch the ball to the opposite side of the pitch through the 3v2 zone to the Wing Back to deliver a cross into the box.
WB- Ask the player to drive up the pitch until the opposition has closed the space between them and look to play the ball into the 3v2 zone to initiate the switch.
3v2 Zone - with limited touches, switch the play to the opposite channel using the overload to their advatage
Fwds - play in between the wide defenders and the centre backs and looking to recieve crosses from wide into the 2nd 6 yards box
Problem 1 - The CDM of the opposition are preventing the switch, can the Deep liying playmaker offer depth to find the spare player in the 3 v 2.
Problem 2 - The CDM's of the opposition are finding success in preventing the switch, can we now create the wide overlap with the WB that played the ball into from the channel and play the ball behind the LB or RB through the gab between them and the CB
