Session set up - Each pair face each other across the hall, there is a cone with a ball on top directly in the middle which will become the target. *If space/numbers dont allow, players can be in teams of 2 or use assistant if needed.
Aim of the session is to practice passing accurately & win points by knocking the ball off the cone. Coach needs to recap ALL coaching points made in the warm up & previous weeks & reiterate how to be more accurate with inside of the foot.
Game rules
1 ball on the cone & 1 ball used for passing
Players have to pass the ball from behind the cone & knock the ball off for a point, if they are successful they have 10 seconds to run & place ball back on top of the cone & back in the starting position for the point to count.
Alternate turns if in a team of 2
Players keep score & can change partners if needed
Progression -
5 points if you knock ball off with weaker foot
Coach needs to be aware some players might struggle with distance, players can be moved closer if needed to gain success
Progression of the game - Collect the targets from the middle, now there is no equipment in the area.
1 player attempts to pass all the way down to partner & nutmeg them
Player who doesn't have the ball must stand with there legs as wide as possible
Again players may need to go closer & offer extra bonus points for weaker foot.
Players will be ready for games & encouragement of passes in the matches is needed at this point.

Warm up - Pass & Move
Warm up - Every player with a ball dribbling around the area - encourage toe taps. penguins & sole roles
Recap previous weeks session & explain the session will be working on passing & moving & accuracy of passing
Warm up drill - Get players into pairs, 1 player to place ball into available goals so its 1 ball between 2
Aim of the drill is for all partners to be passing and moving around the area & not clashing into each other
Coaching points from previous session apply but communication & when to pass needs to be stressed at this point
Addition coaching points for warm up include -
Checking shoulder for space behind
First touch into space
What type of pass? Distance, which part of foot?
Progression 1 -
How many passes can each pair do in 60 seconds, then try to beat it with only 50 seconds to encourage them to be a little bit quicker
Progression 2 -
If the coach shouts 'Number 1' players have to get within 3 yards of each other & do 6 quick 1 touch passes - bouncing on the toes to react to the ball is key
Once they have done the 6 they go back to passing & moving
If the coach shouts 'Number 2' then players must perform 6 passes using 2 touches at a time (control & pass) at a distance of around 6/7 yards
*Coach to replace numbers 1 & 2 if they want - shout out a football players name or a football team to test players memory also whilst playing.
