Deflection
Aim
To start with the development of confidence building of the blocking technique. The principal aim of the GK is to keep the ball out of the net.
Instructions:
The C will stand close to the GK and the GK will have his hands behind his back. The C will hand serve the ball to or just past the GK and the aim is to see the GK moving forward in order that the ball stops going forward.
service: low; mid; sides & body
Progression:
On the ground, the C will take a ground or just above shot which the GK has to keep out of the goal by deflecting it away.
Coaching points:
* The GK is looking for clues for the flight of the ball and getting behind it
* The GK is moving forward to help with the deflection
* The ball is moved away from the goal

Blocking
Aim
To show the best blocking positions and practice these with the GK making himself as large as possible at all times.
Instructions:
The C will discuss with the GK's the best blocking techniques, how we can be as big as possible in front of the goal when the ball is to far away for a 1 on 1 situation and we will not have enough reaction time for a normal save.
We will then practice these movements with the C hand feeding the ball to various position in the agoal area
Coaching points:
* The GK is looking for the trigger point so that his block is effective
* The GK is not leaving any 'holes' in his block
* The GK is ready to react to the block and move for any secondary shot

Reaction
Aim:
To have the GK having to make a movement in the goal and then immmediately having to make a reaction save to a header towads the goal
Instructions:
The GK will start at the near post when the ball is on the line c1 will serve the ball into the goal area where c2 will make a header (or hand held bounce net) towards the goal. The GK is to make all attempts to keep the ball out of the net
Progression:
By adding another c, the GK is going to have to try and view the flight of the ball in order to get into position early
Coaching points:
* The GK is looking for the attacking player and trying to get in front of the ball as early as possible
* The GK is moving the ball as far away from the goal as posssible

Quick feet
Aim:
To start the GK moving fast in the goal and having him thinking about his positioning and getting set as early as possible
Instructions:
The GK will start in any position he chooses in the goal. The C will adjust his position on each rotation.
The C has 2 options, shoot or shout a number which the GK has to touch with a foot and then get back into position as early as possible for the oncomoing shot.
... If the GK is not moving fast enough the C can shoot whenever he chooses, the GK will then have to deal with this early shot while he is on the move.
Progression (P)
A 2nd shot is taken from the 2nd coach to any position in the goal with the c stading close in
Coaching points
* The GK has to be moving at speed in order to get back into position for the 1st shot on goal.
* The GK has early eyes on the ball
* The GK is always lokking for any 'triggers'

Instructions
The GK will start in the centre of his goal.
A C will should L or R and that is where the ball is going to start from, this c can shoot or pass to any of the other coaches for them to shoot. 1 & 2 can be used for a reaction/ block / deflection which the GK has to react to - 3 shot each (if time)

Aim:
To help develop the GK's ability to make an effective pass out to his team mates
Instructions:
Each GK is standing in a box (5 x 5), he has to make a pass over to the other box, neither GK is allow to go outside of the box for kicking or receiving
Progression:
Can the GK's make the pass and control the ball when it is in the air?
Coaching points:
* The GK is looking up for his pass
* The GK is putting his foot through the ball and getting a good strong pass
* The other GK is controlling the ball in front of him for any following pass
