1.Can everyone learn their role defending in a 4-5-1 while staying compact?
2.Can the entire team work hard without the ball maintaining positions in 1 zone all together?
3.The first part of the attack is defending. lets commit to defending as a team in order to get the ball to ATTACK. That is our purpose for defending, to get the ball and ATTCAK!
-wide midfield players must block passing lanes when pressing. Don't allow opposition to play down the line in zone 2.
- #8 and #10 must defend the half spaces while #6 will cover half space if beaten. #6 should never go into wide channel.
-#9 just makes curved runs to force opposing wide. Not to win the ball necessarily.
#4 and #5 should be defending the middle. If midfield are not back in time, contain the attack to allow time for them to recover and be back to help defend.

Can we work hard to stay organized and compact in z3!
- Notice how everyone has a role to play no matter where the ball is played.
- Force the ball to the middle to make play predictable, we don't want long balls down the line in this zone.
- If you loose the ball you must run back to get organized. If you are lazy someone else has to do double work.
-#9 continues to force play to a side and block passing lanes.
- can we make play predictable and force bad passes? We don't always have to win the ball.

If one player is beat can #6 make smart decision to press while covering passing lane if possible?
Can we force bad passes and make play predictable instead of trying to go for the ball?
Can we force a bad pass in z4 in order to go straight to goal?
Can we deal with a long ball if it goes over z4?
Can we anticipate long goal kicks an stay goal side
If we are not shifting in time, can a player contain the opposition to give teamamtes time to recover while blocking passing lanes?

How can we stay compact in order to prevent opponent from scoring?
-shift in a block (4-5) staying compact at all times.
- player closest to the ball must close down
- back four stay in compact line in order to block a cross
- if outside midfielder is beat, outside back has to leave defensive line to assist. We want our outside midfield back so left or right back can stay in last line of defense.
- scan on defense to block passing angles and know where opposition is at all times.
- when do we contain? When do we need to win the ball? Read the game (current situation)
- #6 must be compact with defenders to help in these situations !
