Improving each individual player's ability to strike the ball
WHAT - Striking the ball to shoot or pass over a long distance.
WHERE - Anywhere on the field where they think they might shoot or make a long pass.
WHEN - Anytime when the player feels like they are able to shoot or make a long pass.
WHY - The players are very capable of completing small passes to goal and dribbling to goal, but there are lots of occasions where they can shoot from distance and make a long pass to play to put them through on goal.
HOW - Plant the standing foot next to the ball, leaning back, high back swing, striking through the ball, using instep, laces, outside and toe. body movement going towards the player or goal they are shooting or passing to

Activity 1 - Tidy Your Bedroom
The aim of the game is to now get every player to clear the central area with their kick. This is to get every player used to kicking the ball and getting their foot underneath it so that they can clear an area of space. Whichever team has the least amount of soccer balls in their own half at the end of the game is the winner.
Rep 1 - (90 seconds) The focus is to clear the balls from their own half by kicking them into the other teams halfs but now they must try and clear the middle area. They also have cones at the bottom end to try and hit as targets.
Rep 2 (90 seconds) Keep allowing the players to focus on clearing the middle area. For those players who are clearing the field with their strong foot. Can you now challenge them to use a different part of that foot (outside) or their weaker foot to clear the middle ground.
Rep 3 (90 seconds) The focus is now on scoring goals. How many goals can each team score through the goals provided. We are combining the kick to clear the middle area with accuracy to shoot/pass.
Rep 4 (90 seconds) The focus is still on who can score more goals. We are combining the kick to clear the middle area with accuracy to shoot/pass.

Activity 2 - Tidy the middle bedroom
The blue and red team are allowed to dribble the ball into the middle area. The Bandits in the middle must then try and shoot the balls in the goals provided on each side. The objective of the players on each side is to stop the balls from going into their goals.
Rep 1 - (90 seconds) Bandits vs 2 teams
Rep 2 - (90 seconds) Change bandits
Rep 3 - (90 seconds) Change bandits
Rep 4 - (90 seconds) Change bandits
Rep 5 - (90 seconds) Change bandits.

Game - 4v4
2 defenders are now allowed into the attacking team's half on goal kicks and throw ins. In previous weeks we have only allowed 1 of them into the attacking half.
Allow players to decide which defenders get to stay in the attacking half by asking the following questions...
1) Who was in the attacking half last time?
2) How can you decide who stays in the attacking half?
3) What is your job now that you are in the attacking half? What are you trying to get from the other team?
4) Attacking team, now that the defending team have 2 defenders in your half, how can you make it easier for your team mate with the ball? What can you do t help him?
Coaching Points
- Rather than the players dribbling all the way to the goal, can they now get their head up and shoot from distance.
- See if the players can test their long passing to a teammate who is far away who can then go towards goal.

Warm-Up - Tidy Your bedroom
The aim of the game is to not have any soccer balls left on your side of the bedroom. Red team will kick the balls back onto the blue side and the blue team will kick the balls back onto the red side. Play 4/5 games to see who is the winner. Players can not enter the middle area. Do not tell them, but the middle area should be used as a target for the players to kick it over, see if any of them challenge themselves to do it.
