Ball tag (5 mins)

  • Taggers look to throw bibs at players ball
  • Players on ball look to protect ball using variety of turns - Ask the players to be creative
  • 45 second rounds

Turn Technique (10 mins)

  • First turn- Drag back
  • Second turn- Outside Inside
  • Third turn- V Pullback
  • Combo- V pullback then drag back 
  • Combo- Ask player to pick/ show turn - Cruyff? Stepover? one more combo

Coaching points-

  • use of upper body 
  • Knees slightly bent 
  • explosive acceleration 
  • Move into space

SSG 1v1 (5 mins)

In pairs, the player with the ball must dribble the ball into a red square for a point. The player cannot run into same square consecutively and must run into another square. The player should look to make turns and protect the ball from the defender.

Defender looks to win ball back, if does so gives attacker the ball to go again.

1 minute rounds 

Coaching points-

  • use upper body to protect the ball
  • Where's the space? 
  • Challenge players- Can you show me the combo we worked on? 
  • Head up, scan before we turn
