Identify gaps in defense to penetrate

Touch every step, pinky toe, head up - when defenders are close
Big touches in space, head up after every touch, take ball in stride (when space is available)

Organization:
- 12x15 yard grid with one mini goal on either side.
- 2 cones build 1 gate
- roughly 7-8 gates on the field
- every player needs a ball
Instructions:
- Dribble through as many gates as you can in 30 seconds. 1 point for every gate dribbled through.
- Loss of 1 point when you or your ball bumps into somedy else
- Who can dribble through the most gates?
- 2-3 rounds, encourage them to beat their own score/highest score
Coaching Points/Questions:
- keep the ball close
- dribble fast
- keep your head up
Q: What part of your foot can you use to dribble?
Q: What part of your foot can you use to change direction?
Q When do we have to change direction?
Q: How can you make sure you don't bump into each other?
Regressions/Progressions:
P: add 1 defender - Defender is allowed to steal any ball and gets 5 points for every goal scored.
once ball is stolen and kicked in goal, defender looks for a different ball, the player whos ball was stolen simply gets the ball from the goal and continues dribbling through the gates

- 2 dribble gates per team to defend/score on.
- 3x5 minute games
- 2v2
Instructions:
- Tournament: every team will play once against each other team. Team with the most victories wins
- dribble through one of opponents gates to score for your team (Demonstration).
- shooting doesn't count
Coaching Points/Questions:
- let them play
- praise great dribbling actions
Q: If wrong decision is made stop play and ask: What else could you have done it that situation? (interruption should not take longer than 5-10 seconds)

- 16x 24 yard grid
- 4v4
- let them rotate positions every 5 minutes, every player should play every position once.
- 2 halves a 10 minutes
Instructions:
- regular 4v4 game, no goal tending
- no sliding
- kick ins instead of throw ins
Coaching Points/Questions:
- praise great actions
- if severe mistakes happen, pull player aside and ask what he/she could have done differently
Q: Why do you think we're trying to play in a diamond formation?
Q: When is it a good moment to pass? When to dribble?
At the end of game, gather everybody and praise each player for something she/he has done well this session. Remind them we are one team and we are all working together

Sharks vs Minnows (5 mins)
Organization:
- 8x12 yard grid
- every player needs a ball besides 1 (the shark)
Instructions:
- Red minnows try to dribble to other side of the ocean. Blue shark tries to steal balls and kick them out of bounds. Once ball is out of bounds, minnow becomes shark. Last surviving minnow is the winner and becomes the shark in the next round
Coaching Points/Questions:
- keep ball close when shark is coming (small touches)
- big touches when you have lots of space in front of you.
- keep your head up to see where the shark is.
Q: When should you make small touches and when big touches?
Q: Why should you keep your head up?
Regressions/Progressions:
R: make grid bigger
P: start with 2 sharks or decrease size of grid
