Players will learn how to check/ scan their shoulder before receiving ball. Thus allowing them to make quicker decisions and knowing where to play before even receiving the ball, allowing the team to keep possession.

Organization: 2 lines parallel to each other. One ball for the group. Ball always start at player A.
Description: Player A plays a pass across to Player B. Upon the pass, they can choose to run towards the cone to their right or left. Upon getting to cone, Player B plays it back to Player A, who will then turn to play it back to the line it came from. Players then switch line after each repetition.
Coaching Points: As Player A travels to cone after first pass, checking at least twice before receiving to turn around cone (defender); Receiving on angles and not in straight lines; No more than 2 touches per player
Progressions: Add a stepover and/or body feint before turning; Turning on first touch;

Checking Shoulder w/ Stimulus (15 mins)
Organization: 2 players facing each other inside a 7x7 grid. 1 player behind each of these players with 2 different colored discs in their hands.
Description: Players A and B will exchange passes back and forth. Every time the ball is travelling from Player A to B, B checks his shoulder 1-2 times (the more, the better). Depending on what color disc he holds up, player B will then open up his body to quickly combine with the player behind him.
Coaching Points: Coach decides which color disc "allows" player A or B to turn and combine; Checking more than once as the ball travels; Opening up body to receive on back foot to combine; Reminding players that knowing where to play before we get the ball, allows us to keep possession; No more than 2 touches per player;
