Aim: Develop player’s ability to run with the ball whilst maintaining control.
Drill: Players are split into three groups, with two players at one end one player at the other end.
The first activity is players running with the ball. Each player takes turns in running the ball to the next player.
The second activity is adding a turn into the run. The first player runs with the ball out to point 1, turns, runs back to point 2, turns and runs through to the next player in line.
Key Focus: Developing player’s technique and confidence whilst running with the ball.
Encourage players to push the ball out in front of them so that they are still in control of the ball.

Aim: To develop players technique and skill whilst running with the ball without pressure.
Drill: Players are split into four team with each team being given a number 1-4. When the players team number is called out the run with the ball across the grid, turn and run back. More than one number can be called to make it more congested in the middle which encourages players to keep closer control. If players comfortable then exercise will be turned into a competition.
Key Points: Push the ball out in front, work on getting the control.
Players should have their head up to avoid any collisions.

Aim: To apply the skills developed in the session under an increased amount of pressure.
Drill: Players are split into two even teams and given an end of the field to defend. The teams can get a goal by either passing or running with the ball into the end zone. Once a team scored in end zone 1 their team is then attacking end zone 2.
Key Point: Players are encouraged to take on players where they can.
Decision making is brought into the drill when players need to decide whether to pass or run with the ball.
Players are encouraged to communicate with team mates to improve decision making.

SAQ (Speed, Agility and Quickness)
Aim: To improve players speed, agility and their ability to move dynamically.
Drill: Players are given different movements through the ladder e.g. single step in ladder, two steps in ladder, sideways etc.
Once the player moves through the ladder the coach plays them a pass, the player first touch needs to be outside the line of the cones, with their second being a pass back to the coach.
Key Points: The focus during the fast feet phase is on the player being light on their feet and executing the skill with fast, controlled movements.
The focus for the first touch phase is getting the ball out of their feet to the side and making an accurate pass back to the coach.
Some groups will use cones or poles instead of ladders. The drill still follows the same focus.
