Opposed Crossing and Finishing
Sequence and build-up play involving the wide player.
- Ball starts with the wide player who passes into the striker
- The striker lays the ball off to the spare player who plays the ball into the channel for the wide player to run onto
- Once the striker has laid the ball off to the spare player, they will spin in between the mannequins followed by the spare player who will make a run into the box following the pass out wide to receive a cross from the wide player
- Wide player has a maximum of 2 touches
- The defender has a choice as to which player they track and attempt to prevent a shot from occurring through a defensive intervention
- Both attackers have the opportunity to score - 1 point for a goal, 2 for a first-time finish (goal)
- Attackers will alternate their positions with the spare players within their area (i.e. Strikers swap)
- Teams will be split into 2 and alternate which side they are working on after 10 minutes, using both goals (1 and 2)
Progression
- 2 Defenders vs 2 Attackers
- 2 Defenders vs 3 Attackers

Small Sided Game
6v6 (plus 2 GK) - 3 teams of 6
- Pitch divided into 3 zones with 2 wide zones
- Overloads can be created in the attacking final 3rds (2v1)
- Wide players (6 players from team 3) are used as support players during the possession phase and crossers during the attacking phase
- No conditions but teams encourage to utilise wide players to create attacking overloads and attacking opportunities
- Goals scored from wide assist or first-time finish count as 2 Goals
- Wide players can pass to another wide player once but the next pass has to be to the team in the middle
Consider
- Number of touches and tempo of transition
- Timing of run into the box from support player
- Weight of pass and distribution from the wide player
Time:
3 minutes per game - 1 minutes break - Teams alternate the team on the outside
