Organization: 30 by 40 grid. Multiple two cone gates ~1-2 yards apart.
Instructions: Players work for 2 minutes at a time attempting to get to as many gates as possibly (keeping track of number of gates they get to- everyone but the winner must do 5 star fish)
Go through gate and quickly turn back through
Coaching Points: Knowing how and when to take big and small touches
Speed and acceleration during their change of direction
Head up and awareness while dribbling (if they bump into each other they lose all their points)
Progressions: Show different types of turns. Eventually progress into just going through cones and stressing importance of their change of direction

Organization: Groups of 3-5 in 15 by 20 yard grid
Instructions: One ball per group- groups of more than 3, players must follow their pass, while groups of only 3, player in the middle works for 2 minutes then switch. Objective is to receive pass from one direction and pass it to the other.
Coaching Points: Hips open, receiving the pass side on.
Taking first touch with their back foot in the direction of where they will be passing next.
Staying on their toes (if mastered, introduce checking away)

Communication

Organization: Two main lines- one crossing line one shooting line (going towards goal). Players split evenly into both lines
Instructions: Player who is up in the shooting line steps forward- player who is next in line passes to this player who receives the pass and then shoots. Following this pass they will attempt to score on a cross. The player who is up in the crossing line steps to the side- player who is next passes a through ball in front of this player who then crosses to the player who is in the box who just shot. Rotation- after you cross or shoot you go to the other line.
Coaching Points: Speed of play.
Technique of receiving, shooting, passing through balll, and crossing.
Communication
Awareness of where the goalie is and where our teammate is in the box.

Organization: Two teams: zig-zag to weaving to turning through gate heading back to start
Instructions: Each player goes once, three rounds, losing team must do 10 star fish.
Coaching Points: Knowing when to take small touches and keep the ball close vs take larger touches when there is more distance between each cone.
