Social Communicate (1-2, give and go etc) |
Setup: Same 22 x 22 square as before with extra cones added.
Reds play 5v3 in the central square. To release the ball from the square they must play a wall pass around either a cone or an opponent. Player that receives the wall pass can then exit the square and passes to either A or B, who represent their fullbacks, and then attack the goal of C or D in a 2v1 situation. Greens defending C and D must pursue ball aggressively and not play as goalkeepers. Play offside in the 2v1 to encourage wall passes and overlaps.
If the green team of 3 get possession of the ball in the square, they can all leave with the ball and attack the goal at A or B in a 3v1, they do NOT need to make a wall pass to leave or pass to their exterior player when they exit.

Setup: Full field with 2 wide channels, 11v11.
Attacking team can have 2 players in wide channel, defending team can have only 1. All goals must come from a wall pass or overlap in one of the wide channels.

Technical - Overlap Drill (15 mins)
Setup: 22 x 22 square with 2 small cones as visual aides for the overlapping player.
X makes pass number 1 to Y, who takes first touch towards centre of square to open lane for the overlap. Y makes pass number 2 to Z who plays first time pass (3) to X who has overlapped their initial pass and finishes the sequence by passing to A. Y continues their run across the square to join the B line. Sequence restarts on the other side of the square with A passing to B.
Progression: Put 2 players in the middle and have 2 balls moving around the square, one chasing the other. Switch direction to incorporate left footed passes.
