INTRO (10 mins)

Organization:

3 groups of 4

2v1 attacking to 1v2 defending.

Instructions:

Defenders can press when attackers make a pass from the endline

Attackers try to play to target of the other side of the field. Player that plays pass into target now steps into zone to try to win ball, continious.

If ball goes out of play reset and play a pass in on the goaline of the team's whose ball it is.

Coaching Points/Questions:

Defender

Pressure early and quickly, intentions to win the ball, What happens if to slow?

If cannot win can you slow it down to maybe get help. Why?

Can you force them to a side, corner, or backwards? How?

What to look for to win ball? Bad touch, bad pass, in corner, facing wrong way.

What to do when win the ball?

Attackers

Play quickly, look to use space as best as you can.

How much room do you need to score?

Do we have to try to score right away if it is 2v1?

Can we switch from being defender to attacker quickly or from being attacker to defender quick?

Regressions/Progressions:

Time Limit to score/get ball back

MAIN (15 mins)

Organization:

3 teams

4-attackers on field

3 defenders

4 v 3 to goals.

rotate any spare players when new ball is played.

Instructions:

Attackers play the ball in and try to score on pug nets on other end. Defenders try to press and win the ball and score on the goal.

If the ball goes out then play is restarted and 3 new defenders come on

Coaching Points/Questions:

Attackers- Do we have to play fowards if it is not on? We have out GK as a free pass.

Try to play quickly to open up space with movement, try not to be in same line.

Defenders- Look to put pressure on attacker when they are closest to you. What happens if pressure it too slow.

If they are facing the opposite way do not let them turn, do not be too tight so that they will lose you. 2nd defender can push up to help, or cover their player

If you are not pressing the ball (2nd defender) where do you need to be? What happens if we are too high up the field, or too far back?

What to do if the ball is played back to GK?

Do we mark a player or the space?

Regressions/Progressions:

R) If all 4 attackers touch the ball before scoring then they get an extra point.

SSG (20 mins)

Organization:

3 team of 4

2 teams on to play

2 player from remaining team play GK and the other 2 make sure the GK has balls if the one in play goes out. (if large goals available, if not large goals use PUG nets and not GKs)

Instructions:

4v4+GK to goals

Ball always starts with a GK even if it goes out the side

1 minute games, team that has been on longest comes off if no one scores

Coaching Points/Questions:

Look to put pressure on attacker when they are closest to you.

If your teammate in front of you puts pressure on the ball what should you do?

What to do if the ball is played back to GK?

How can we cover 2 player, 1 player and the goal, or 2 players and the goal?
