Low Diving and Handling Technique

In groups of 2, Goalkeepers will start with 1 Keeper sitting on the ground and the other feeding services.
12 Reps Each side
Phase 1: Going side to side Goalkeepers will be fed balls to hands to catch. Keepers will then go to ground with ball using the ground for support and using correct extension of arms and legs.
Phase 2: Same concept except ball will be bounced and keepers will be forced to catch off of the bounce.
Phase 3: Keepers will start on their right or left hip with legs out ball will be played on the ground and Keepers will extend, collect and hold.
Phase 4: Goalkeepers will start on their knees, alternating sides, ball will be played on the ground. Keepers will extend, collect and hold.
Main focus: Using correct diving technique: Landing on hips and shoulders (not forearms or stomach), extend legs to protect from attacking players, and 2 hands behind ball using ground to aid in catching.

Low Diving and Handling Technique
Phase 1: Goalkeepers will use footwork through cones, then alternating sides each time, will go around 1 cone of the gate and get set. Ball when the be played to the middle of the gate for a low diving save.
Phase 2: Goalkeepers will do footwork through cones, touch one cone of the gate, ball when the be played to opposite cone and Keeper will have to make a diving save.
Main Focus: Diving Technique when going to ground, power step, low center of gravity, and diving forward instead of backwards.

2 Low Dives 1 Regular shot
Shot 1: Goalkeeper starts on post, ball is played on the ground towards the top of the 6 yard box for a low diving save.
Shot 2: Goalkeeper will get up from Shot 1, utilize footwork to go around cone and receive a shot to the near post on the ground for another low diving save.
Shot 3: Keeper will then get up from Shot 2, find ball line for shot 3 and receive shot.
Main Focus: Quick footwork, low center of gravity, decisiveness with handling (catch or parry), and correct diving technique.
