GOAL KICK - pattern of play example 1 (updated 11/01/24)
-we will set up VERY spread out to start in order to pull the defense apart and have space to move into
-Get in this set up quickly!
-*heels MUST be on the touch line to start to maximize space - this is something we MUST do!
-Keeper, don’t be predictable
-the priority is to maintain possession. Mainly try to play out to our 4 and 5 but mix it up. If a longer ball is played we must -WIN the BALL and use drop passes to gain possession quickly.
-play 1-2 touch passes – players should anticipate passes and MOVE to space
- if the ball is played to the opposite side of you, we MUST SHIFT very quickly to support the build up
-DO NOT place goal kicks or passes into the DANGERZONE gray box area as best possible because teams can intercept, counter attack and score quickly from there!
Red circle at end is the Core 4 - always need this core defense unit in shape when one back pushes up with attack
