Introduction (10 mins)

Organization:

-5 yard gates scattered throughout area (Gates may be adjusted in size based upon ability level of group)

-Players get into pairs, and 1 ball per pair

-2 defenders

Instructions:

Pairs look to move around the area by passing to a teammate to dribble through a gate

If a groups ball knocks into another player, or leaves the area; they lose all their points and must start at zero

If defenders are able to win ball, and score in counter goal. Attacking team loses all points and must restart; defender gets 3 points

Each round is for a set period of time

Coaching Points/Questions:

-Identifcation of space to play into their teammate

-Dribble ensuring the ball is on side as their partner

-Surface of foot to play the pass

-Angle and weight of the pass

Main Activity (30 mins)

Organization:

Divide area into three fields for 2v2s

Instructions:

- when out of possession, players must have only 1 player in half.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- How can you get the defender to bite/budge and open up an option a little more?

- How can you sneak the ball to the least expected option?

- Besides different surfaces of the feet, what are some ways to get a defender wrong footed?

- When are the best moments to disguise passes?

Regressions/Progressions:

- Rather than 1 defender in each half, just have the player furthest from the ball take a knee until their teammate recovers the ball

- add a mini goal between the two soccer balls to increase options for attackers, incentivize with more points

- remove the restriction and just play 2v2, but you must score from the attacking half
