Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Level 2 turning with the ball.

SET UP:

Mark out a circle with 8 players around the outside and 4 inside the circle. 4 players on the outside have a ball.

TASK:

Players on the outside with a ball play into middle men who perform a turn on the ball and then look to pass out to a different outside player then look to receive another ball from a different outside player. Repeat.

COACHING POINTS:

*Use Different types of turns (No touch turn, drag back, Croyff turn, open body to receive on the back foot).

*Look over shoulder and be aware of who is around you before calling for the ball.

VARIATIONS:

Outside players can also turn with ball.

Outside players can move around the outside.

SET UP:

Mark out a pitch, suitable size for players and ability, with 4 target areas in all 4 corners. 1 target player in each area. 4v4 game in the middle.

TASK:

Play 4 v 4 in the middle, Teams try to keep possesseion using the corner players. Corner players play with the team in possession.

COACHING POINTS:

*Find space to receive from corner player and turn.

*Keep possession and provide support for team mates.

VARIATIONS:

*Creat an overload in the middle and play 1 team attackers and one team blocker/defenders.

*Leave one square empty for a player to run into and receive pass to score.

*Players in corners perform a turn on the ball before playing out.

*Corner payers can switch play by passing to each other.
