Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Team Press Opp. Goal-Kick

Press Opp. Goal Kick

Organization:

• 2 GK's, one at a time
• 2 red start on field
• 3 lines of blue start on cones outside of build-out line
• reds can hold pinnies to signify their team

Instructions:

• • Green GK starts with the ball & passes into Red. RED tries to dribble across the build-out line for one point, or to score in the small goal for two points.
    
  • Blue tries to steal the ball, & score on the large goal.
  • Player rotation follows the white arrows
  • GK's switch every round, remain as GK. 

Coaching Points/Questions:

• Communication: When the ball is played in, Blue team shouts "Press" & presses together.
  
• Press: Team steps forward to close options & win the ball together
  
• Pressure: Player nearest the ball gets into surfboard stance & challenges the player with the ball.
• Cover: 2nd defenders cut off forward passing options, & help to make the field compact. 

Progressions:

• Remove the mini-goal & add a third red player.

Regressions:

• Replace the 2nd red player with a mini-goal.
