Activity 1 (10 mins)

Organization: 2-3 goalkeepers per station. 4x4 yard squares. Servers 15 yards from Goalkeepers

Instructions: The GK moves from the back line of cones to the front line between the cones and gets into a set position to complete one of the four (4) variations:

Variation 1: Chest Save

Variation 2: Ground Save

Variation 3: Low Dive Side Save

Variation 4: High Jump Save

Focus:

- All shots are always handled with both hands

- Distribute by rolling/short, overhand throw

- Get feet set before handling ball

- Call for ball ("keeper!")

- Save is cleared away from the danger area

- Proper technique

Shot Stoping with Quick Feet Movement (20 mins)

Organization: 20x40 yard area grids; supply of balls

Instructions: Goalkeeper starts by doing fast feet through the cones. Once he reaches the end of the cones the coach will then volley the ball head height forcing the keeper into a catch. Keeper will then return the ball and the coach will then perform a side foot shot to the left forcing the keeper to dive and make the save. Keeper will then sprint to the goal where the second server will strike the ball forcing another diving save. After the 3 saves the goalkeeper can rest. Swap the goalkeepers until each of them have performed the drill 2 times

Focus:

- Attempt to stop all shots

- Have feet set before shot

- Hands in the 'ready' position

- All shots away from body

- Movement of feet

3 v 3 - Multiple Shots on Goal (20 mins)

3v3/4v4/5v5

Organization: 20x30 yard grid

Instructions: The Coach will serve the ball to a team, play until either the GK collects the ball or one team scores.

Focus:

- Communication and organization managing a small sided game

- Dealing with long range and close range shots, and through ball situations

- Attempt to stop all shots

- Have feet set before shot

- Hands in the 'ready' position

- GK working with ball line and angle arc
