Breaking Pressure Game 1 - 10 minutes
Rondo
Half Court
5v1 (5v2 or 6v3 for older groups)
Defenders holding penny, if they win the ball, they drop the penny and player who loses it must pick it up before defending.
Coaching Points:
First 3 minutes - no coaching, allow players to make decisions. Notice the spacing, the movement to support.
1. remind them of the warm up - how we had to move to support our teammate that couldnt move. How we did not let the defender get close enough to us to tag us.
Let them play again, this time only speaking to individual players reminding them to move to support, and play away from pressure

Rondo 2
15 Minutes
Now add a target zone in middle. Defenders are not allowed to enter.
Attackers must get ball into target zone, and passed out to score point.
Defenders stay in for 2 minutes the rotate
Coaching Points - First 2 minutes, no coaching.
1. spacing continues to be emphasized
2. Timing of the run into the target zone. Players should not be waiting in their for the ball. If they enter the zone and do not get the ball, they need to get back out to make space for a teammate
3. Receiving the ball away from pressure when in the target zone. Again, remind them of the technical passing exercises

Breaking Pressure To Attack
15 Minutes
2 even teams
Red Attacking Yellow Defending
2v2 in each half to begin. 1 attacking red player at a time can check into defensive half to support and break pressure. If the red checks in, and does not get the ball, needs to get out again. Once ball is past half court, 4v2 in attacking half looking to score
Little coaching done in this game, let them play and make decisions.
Coaching Points:
1. remind them of the movements we have worked on, how to we get into the "target zone" to break pressure, and move the ball forward.
2. butterfly pattern that we worked on last week should be implemented as well.
