3-5-2 in possession set up
the idea is when you gain the ball back you have high wing backs two centre forwards attacking the penalty area along side the opposite wingback holding back outside the area for any second phase the highest midfield player also attacks the penalty spot for any second phase so you always have at least 4 people attacking the crossed ball. the shaded area is for protection with the three centre backs and two deepest midfielders if one of the midfielders wants to join in with play and overlap the wingback a diamond shape must be formed in the shaded area to provide protection for the defensive transition.

3-5-2 defensive block
this block is something used from a goal kick and the aim is starting from the front one player from the front two dictates which centre back the ball is played to the other centre forward drops in front of the opposition 6 and stops any balls being played through the middle if the ball is played to the 6 the idea is to force play backwards. for this shape to be effective everyone must start within the 18 yard lines as reference two wing backs start half and half between winger and full back when the ball is played to the full back that is the trigger for the press of the wing back to force play backwards and the whole team shuffles over if the ball is then played back by the opposition the team must regain shape and start central and tuck in again until the ball is played to the other full back. if the blue midfield players go deeper to find the ball we must keep shape and not be drawn out and allow the blue team to become frustrated and play over or around but they never play through.
