Moving onto some blocking, we are going to do a couple of drills to try and build the GK confidence up with the ball away from them before getting into the technical close range stuff.
Equipment:
Hurdles
Ladders
cones
balls

Instructions:
c2 at approx 6 yds. c1 to feed ball mid height, c2 to volley ball for GK to try and stop with any part of the body
Service: both sides x 5
Progression:
1. GK to move out towards ball and set before shot
2. c1 & c2 to move out to the angle
On the 1st set allow GK's to do their own thing before progressing any

Instructions:
GK to start on post facing ball
c2 to be approx 18yds out & out from side of post
c1 to feed ball and c2 to have a 2 touch shot, GK to move out, narrow angle and set before trigger
service: 5 balls each side
Progression:
c2 to move for 1st time shot
Coaching points:
GK must move at speed to get in front of ball
GK must move forward and set early

Instructions:
GK to start on his knees, ball is served from c1, which is caught and returned
Straight after ball is returned c2 steps to ball which has to be blocked by gk with r or l leg depending on side. (GK does not come off his knees)
service: both sides
Progression:
P1. GK on feet, ball is rolled to him, GK gathers ball and rolls back and immediately moves to get in position in front of ball at c2 (from standing to squat position in front of ball)
P2. GK starts on knees and dives for ball from c1, immediately gets up to be in front of shot from c2
Coaching points:
GK's weight has to remain forward
GK's leg has to move forward
GK moving as if he is going to smother ball
GK HAS to be move towards ball to block
