Same pattern as the previous practice. However when the ball gets played out side, the defender on that side will come and defend them. If the defender wins the ball, they can pass or dribble theball group the blue gates in that wide channel.
Progression:
- To give challenge to the attackers in the box, when the ball gets played out wide, a defender can now come into the box and defend the cross.
Coaching Points:
- Proper passing/crossing mechanics
- Slow down body momentum before you cross the ball
- Putting in the right type of cross when they are in a certain location

Small sided game using the full half. Wide channels have been marked from the 18 yard box to the sidelines on both sides.
Kickins instead of throwins, corners are active, no offsides. Play starts from the keeper if a goal is scored.
1 point for a regular goal. 2 points if a team use the wide channel first then they score from a cross or a passage of play from the wide areas.
For the last 10 minutes, remove the rules with the wide channels and just let the players have fun.
Coaching Points:
- Proper passing/crossing mechanics
- Slow down body momentum before you cross the ball
- Putting in the right type of cross when they are in a certain location

Passing Sequence into Crossing and Heading (10 mins)
Get the players to evenly get behind the 4 cones around the halfway line. Balls on the 2 inside cones.
Ball will start from player A or B. For the first one, player A will pass it to player B in the middle. Once player B has the ball, they will play a long pass into space for player C to run onto it. Player A and B will then run into the box to try to finish on the ball that player C just crossed. Once that has happened, it will switch sides and the middle players will be playing with player D.
Coaching Points:
- Proper passing/crossing mechanics
- Slow down body momentum before you cross the ball
- Putting in the right type of cross when they are in a certain location
