Set Up: 8x16 yd area (adjust to number of players)
Instructions: Middle player check away from player with ball before calling for ball and coming to meet it. Middle player must receive on the turn and play into opposite end. Middle player must continue using the same ball thoughout the exercise.
Progressions: Middle player can vary who they pass to

Set Up: 40 x 40 yd area with a 10 x 10 square in the middle. Groups of 3 players working together (if needed you can have a group of 4.
Instructions: Each team has to work the ball from one outside player to the other by passing to the player in the centre square. Player on the outside should move along thier line to encourage the middle player to continuously scan and to force him to vary his passing.
Progression: Allow players to rotate positions; you can play back to the player who passed the ball to the centre.
Coaching Points
scan the area so you know which direction to control the ball (awareness); receive on half turn; check shoulder; (P) timing of run into middle

Set Up: 20 x 20 yd area; 4v4 + 1 neutral. Blue team attacks the blue goals and red team attack the red goals. If the ball goes out, play restarts with a "pass in" or a "dribble in". No corners, but if a goal is scored the game restarts with a centre kick as per normal rules.
Coaching Points
Dont take too many touches (let the ball do the work); Get big when in possession and try to compact when not in possession; check shoulder before receiving; create good angles to receive the ball; communicate with team mates; shoot as soon as you get half a yard.
