-6-8 players, 2 per cone
-It all starts with player A playing a pass to player B and walks to defend, then B passes to player C. On C's touch B looks to Overlap Player C.
-Rotation is as followed, A-B-C-A
-Encourage attackers to drive at defender and perform combo and try to dribble past the blue cone line.
Progressions:
-Add Underlap
-Add Give and Go
-Defender can now jog towards attacker
CP's:
-Dribbling at speed to make it realistic
-1st attackers job is to penetrate by dribbling at the defender
-2nd attackers job is to support
-Communication is key to execute combinations
-Disguise when playing the pass to the 2nd attacker
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
-Same as previous, but now defender is live upon attackers first touch of player C
-Rotation stays the same
-Attackers get +1 points for dribbling past the blue cone line
-Defenders get +2 points for dribbling past red cone line
- make it a 2v2 situation and have a second defender join from line A (use overlap/underlap to create space for teammate or use combinations to get beyond them and score.
CP:
-Where does the 2nd attacker support? 1st attacker has space can we support beyond? 1st attacker doesn't have space support behind?
-Combinations to penetrate
-Defender gets attracted to 2nd Attacker, 1st Attacker uses him as dummy and continues to penetrate

Technical Drill
Focus Area
Shooting
Mechanics of Shooting
· get body in position to strike
· angle approach
· non-kicking footbeside ball
· head over ball
· select surface & strike
· follow through
· accuracy (and aim)
Organisation
Coachesavailable at session: 2
Full area size - 30x20
Technical Area size - 10m(width) x 17m(length) (halfway line for length. cones for width
Players- Between,4 and 10 players
Practice
-Group is split into two groups, one group takes position on cone point A, the other cone point B
-Players on cone A pass the ball towards the 1st player at cone B, they then move forward into the attacking zone(shaded) to receive the ball back and shoot at goal with an early shot (can they perform a first time shot or take 1 touch?)
-After taking their shot at goal the player returns to join the group at cone B while player B goes to line A.
-After each cycle player groups alternate the shooting point from cone A to B, varying the angle of shot at goal.
Conditions
To have as few touches aspossible before taking the shot at goal.
Progression(s)
Aim for one touch pass and finish
Ask players to also use weaker foot
Create area cannot shoot in.
Encourage early shot
Regression(s)
Move the cones closer to attacking zone
Encourage additional touches to set themselves before shooting
Observation/intervention considerations:
Coaches position near goalfacing the shooter to observe the technique or alongside (not behind)
· individual feedback to players as they collect ball and return to starting position
· Group feedback during swap over period

Shooting
Mechanics of Shooting
· get body inposition to strike
· angle approach
· non-kicking foot beside ball

Organization - no changes to practice layout required
Practice: 2v1
-Carrying on from the technical drill, group remains split into two groups, one group takes position on cone point A (attack), the other cone point B (defend). There should be more players on A than B
-2 players on cone A pass the ball towards the between them to the attacking zone(shaded)
-Once the play is started by player A, the defender (B) moves forward to win the ball.
Either player A can take a shot at goal once they have created a chance to shoot.
2 cycles the swap A and B over.
Repeat twice.
Conditions
-Shot at goal must be in the attacking zone. Defender to start on goal line and then must pressure the ball to create a passing opportunity for player A.
Progression(s)
Ask players to also use weaker foot
Move to 3(A) v 2(B)
Regression(s)
Remove defender
move cones closer to goal
Encourage additional touchesto set themselves before shooting
Observation/intervention considerations:
· Group A while waiting during practice
· if players are struggling or there is lack of movement off the ball to support, stop play and highlight it - group intervention
· when to swap over roles (lengthen if players aren't getting enough repetition to master the technique
· shorten the cycle if players are looking tired

Organization:
As above
Instructions:
1v1 game. The player who is attacking (red) will go around and ask for a pass from any player on the outside. The red player can turn to take on the defender (yellow) to try and score on the net. The The attacking player can also bounce the ball back and go look for another all to try and score. The player attacking has 60 seconds to try and score as many goals as possible or until all the balls are gone.

- Anticipation and awareness of space and quickly attack
- Variations of runs and changes of speed to lose defender
- Finish!
Progressions:
- If the attacking player plays the ball back to the player on the outside, it turns into a 2v1.
- Two points if it's a 1v1 and one point if it's a 2v1
