Lead in practice
Lead in practices:
Two forwards cross balls alternately for the goalkeeper to come and catch. Mannequins used to provide interference.
Encourage the goalkeeper to start in a strong position ready to come and catch the ball
Shortest route to ball (angle) and speed of approach
Aim to catch the ball (W on the ball) at it's highest point.
If catch not possible punch with height and distance away from danger area.
Lead with a high leg for protection
Immediate distribution to one of the wide players - kick or throw.
Remaining outfield players take part in heading game. Player from one line protect the goal from a header from the other line. If goal is scored that defender stays in. If not, the attacker becomes the defender and a header comes from the other line. Aim of this game is just to encourage heading the ball with power having attacked it.
