What: Man in the MIddle ( Moat Game). A three zone activity where two teams play against one to penetrate through a central zone. Here, Orange and Black vs Navy.
The team in the central zone can only defend against the team in possession with 2 or 3 players (more or less players at the coach's discretion). The rest of the team remains in the central zone and attempts to cut out the through pass.
When the team in the centrsl zone wins the ball, the team who lost ot must run into the central zone before they can defend.
The team with the ball can not penetrate until they complete a number of consecutive passes ( the greater the number of passess the more pressure placed upon the attacking team).
This is a Stage 2 avtivity.
Why: Directional Possession. This activity forces possession to go in a direction as well as using a variety of different services to penetrate, and receive balls with all surfaces of the body.
Where: middle third of the field.
Who: all three lines.
When: Transition, Attack, Defending phase.
