ORGANNIZATION: 40x40 area / Two goals next to each otherCones with balls on top
Player in between the goals
Each cone is numbered
INSTRUCTIONS: Coach will called out a number and Player will come off his position and protect both goals from a ball kicked by COACH.into 1 goal.If the player is succesful blocking the ball then returns to starting position.
COACHING POINTS: - Coming off the cone with speed
-Low body when blocking balls, using front poking leg
- Poking balls with outside toe
-Quick reaction to numbered cone
- No passing, Blocking.
PROGRESSION 1: Player faces his cone and when signaled turns to intercept a ball
PROGRESSION 2: Player catches a tennis ball before intercepting a ball
PROGRESSION 3: Increase # of balls.

Set up as shown, Progression from previous activity
Add pinnies in front of each cone / Tennis balls
INSTRUCTIONS: The player will make a 1st Run into a cone and poke ball to coach, backpedal to pick up a pinnie & make a 2nd Run for the ball to turn into the empty pathway to score on the small goal.[Pinnie is given to coach]
COACHING POINTS: - Fast approach to the ball
- Backpedal to retrieve pinnie
- Second Run simulates transition from OFF-DEF
- Turning with one or two touches?
- Long touch or short?
- Keep eyes to coach and pick up pinnie .
PR's:
P- Player picks up pinnie 1st
P Go around the ball, pick up pinnie and backpedal into the ball to take a touch and score.

ORGANIZATION: 40x40 area / 5 cones with balls on top

3 small goals
Goals are 10yd away from cones / cones are 5 yd apart
Player 5 yd away from cones
INSTRUCTIONS: Player will run into a cone with a ball on top and poke it into one of the 3 small goals. Using the outside toe or front toe of his front leg. Player goes back after the poke to his starting position.
COACHING POINTS: - Low body when approaching balls
-Back pedal into position
-Always facing forwards
-How are you approaching the cone?
- Why poke it with the front leg?
PR's:
P- Coach passes a 2nd ball into a different cone and player must intercept that2nd ball.
P- Coach throws tennis ball after the poke and player puts it on top of that empty cone.
