Don't Cross The Line

This is a 5v5, full court game.

Full futsal Laws of The Game

Play 2 minute games and then change players over if you have more than 5 per team.

Mark a diagonal line across the court (see green line) with flat markers.

  • ONLY THE BALL IS ALLOWED TO CROSS THE DIAGONAL LINE
  • PLAYERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RUN OVER OR CROSS THE LINE
  • THE LINE IS ALWAYS LIVE IN THE GAME. THEY CAN NEVER CROSS THE LINE

Should a player cross the line, it is an INDIRECT FREE KICK to the opposition team where it crossed the line.

This is a positional awareness game.

Players need to consider where they are going to position themselves on the court.

If they have a potential overload on one side and the ball is on the other side of the diagonal can they perceive that and make the pass to take advantage of it.

Can players on the opposite side of the diagonal where the ball is think about making the run to the second post to see if they can be ready to score.

This game will test a player's ability to make decisions about their initial positioning (from a restart), their in-game positioning, movement (feints or fakes before committing to one side of the court when attacking.

Play 3 rounds of 2 minutes with no coaching. Just ref it.

See how many times they break the rule by crossing the diagonal.

Give them some time to have a team discussion to allow them to self-organise.

Let them play?

Review their decisions after.

What worked and WHY?

What needs improvement?
