Technical To develop the technical ability of passing |
|
Tactical To develop an understanding of different ways we can pass a ball to threaten the opposition |
|
Physical Competition element makes the session more physically demanding |
|
Psychological To develop decision making skills around passing, such as what is the best pass to make at a given time |
|
Social Use of team meetings - requires social interaction |
KEY FACTORS:
- 4v4, Multi-directional small sided game
- One player from the previous red team and one player from the previous blue team become neutral players
- Neutral players are positioned at the end of the pitch (one on each side)
- Play begins with the coach passing the ball into the pitch from the ball nest at either side of the pitch
- From here both teams have the aim of passing the ball to one of the neutral players, and then from here, move the ball to the other neutral player on the other side of the pitch, if this is achieved = 1 point
- When the neutral player receives the ball, he must pass it back to a player on the same team that he received the ball from
- If a team moves the ball from one neutral player to the other, and the team move involves at least 2 first time passes = 3 points
- If the team move is entirely first time passes = 5 points
- Neutral players can move along the goal line to aid the receiving of passes
- If the ball goes out of play, play restarts with the coach playing the ball into the pitch from either of the ball nests, which are located on both sides of the pitch
- Use the coaching process (freeze position coaching) at least once to support the individual player
- Half way through the allotted time for this part of the session (5 minutes of 10 minutes), both teams have a team meeting to discuss tactics and how best to suceed at the task
Can progress into a real match if appropriate.
ORGANISATION:
- 2 groups of 4 players, and 2 neutral players
- 2 ball nests, located on the half way line on each side of the pitch, for the restart of play
- 20x25m pitch
