Edgemont Clinics U8: Drag back turn
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization:
One grid (or multiple as needed) with 5 red cones in the middle as the 'Laser Wall'. Two gates of different colors on each side, approx. 3 yards wide and 5 yards from the laser wall. Two lines opposite each other as above.
Instructions:
Players dribble toward the laser wall. Players lose a point if they hit the laser wall. Players dribble past the gate, then must preform a drag back through the gate and dribble on the outside to the other line for a point.
Coaching Points:
* Smaller touches when getting close to the laser wall
* Use sole of your foot to drag the ball back towards you
* Good balance after drag back
* Big touches to get to the other side quickly for a point
Progressions:
1) Have players preform drag back with their weak foot
2) Have players have to dribble the opposite side as the player going across from them

Organization:
As above. Grid approximately 30x25. Two pugg goals set up as shown. Two lines inbetween the goals as shown. Players play 1v1 and can score in either goal.
Instructions:
Defending line starts with the ball. After eye contact with attacking player, defender passes the ball to attacker and follows pass to defend (1). Attacker then attempts to preform a drag back (2) and beat the defender to score into one of the goals (3). If defender wins the ball, they attempt to score in either goal for a point. Players then switch lines after they finish the activity.
Coaching Points:
* Is the opponent between you and the goal? Cue to preform turn.
* Small touches to prepare for the turn
* Three E's of the tun (entrance, execution, and exit)
Progressions:
1) Move goals to end of pitch, play 3v3 no restrictions
