Build-Out Line- Promotes playing out of the defensive 3rd.
**Build-Out Line is a new rule that the entire US Soccer Federation will have to abide by. USSF is trying to create a simialr playing style all across the board for youth soccer, this style promotes individual development and a passing style of play.**
Here is what the Build-Out Line is:
-a line in "theory" (some will add a physical line)
-On all goal kicks and every time the GK has the ball in hand, the defending team must drop behind the build-out line. This gives the team in possesion time and space to encourage teams to play out of the back (pass out of the back). This forces the players in possession to be able to receive, pass, and problem solve.... As coaches we can control the success the players on the ball have by creating more time/space to make a decision.
- Once the ball is played from the GK, the opposing team can pressure. (This rule can change depending on the age/skill of the teams playing)
**Also a new Rule- GK CAN NOT PUNT**
This is very basic and broad information on the new rule. Awareness of the rule is the first step, and as a coaching staff we will teach the kids how to successfully play out of the back. This is something we have always encouraged at Ajax, USSF decided to follow us hahaha!
***Playing out of the back takes TIME... be patient with this process***
