5v2 Pressing (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 5v2 pressing
  • Set up as above

Instructions:

  • Team of 5 must make 6 passes then can score in either goal
  • Pressing team can score on either goal if they win the ball (2 pts)
  • Pressing team score 1 point for each pass they connect upon winning ball

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Pressing Team:
  • Sprint Defend
  • Engage - Press through ball
  • Together - Second defender reading cues and trying to intercept passes and win ball

  • Possession Team:
  • Catch and play vs Quick play
  • Angles and body shape
  • Reaction to counter-press

4v2 Over The River (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 2 grids with Gap in middle. 
  • (2)14 x10 grid split with 3 yard gap. Team in possession looks for 3rd man combinations. 
  • 2 min x 4 round. 20 min total

Instructions:

  • 2 Recovery players in each grid/ Ball transfers after 3 passes - PROGRESS TO 3 Defenders
  • Recovery team wins ball and either connects with other possession team or scores a goal for 2 pt. 
  • Team in possession looks for 3rd man combinations.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Breaking on angles
  • counter pressing moments
  • moving opponent to move the ball
  • disguise
