Building off of importance of first touch to set up a shot (from last week). Adding intensity, speed, and control elements in the activation and technical activities to make the scripted parts more challenging for the two groups this session will be conducted for. Rather than instructing these players how to beat an opponent 1v1, our goal with this session is to instruct players to turn and hit with 3 touches or less, how to properly hit that ball based on the set-up-touch, and how to score off of a through ball.
Goalkeepers will be involved in every activity both as distributors and shot stoppers, however, there are potential periods where they won't be challenged consistently if the quality of the field players isn't high enough to progress efficiently towards the bigger goal. If we as coaches are effectively able to demonstrate, communicate, and progress this session as planned, the goalkeepers should see the reps they need to be properly challenged/fulfilled.
