Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Breaking lines into smaller zones (Zone 14, Half-spaces)

Organisation

• Play starts with either of the defenders in the blue or red team (blue for example)
• Blue 4 begins the game by passing into a blue player in the zone 1.
• This creates a 3 vs 3 where the blue must break the line by passing into zone 2.
• From here, a blue player must aim to break out of the zone and into one of the smaller zones which will create a 1 vs 1 against one of the red defenders where they aim to score in the mini-goal.
• If the ball is won by the red team at any time, the exercise runs the same but the teams are in opposite roles.
• The smaller zones at the end of the grid represent zone 14/half-spaces.
