Introduction (10 mins)

Organization:

- Players in pairs.

- Ball per pair

Instructions:

- Players pass and move around area with their partner.

- Each pass that splits another pairing equals 1 point.

- Play for 90 seconds. Challenge pairings to beat their own previous scores.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Head up to identify target.

- Plant non kicking foot next to the ball, pointed at target.

- Strike ball with inside/outside (pinky toe) in the centre of the back of the ball.

- Follow through with kicking foot in direction of pass.

Regressions/Progressions:

R - 1 point for every pass, 2 points for split

Main Activity (20 mins)

Organization:

- One player positioned in each small corner box

- Remaining players in larger area with ball each

Instructions:

- Players with a ball each dribble around area attempting to pass to as many box players as possible. Each pass to a box player equals one point. Must visit a different box each time. Rotate box players after 90 seconds. Challenge players to achieve their highest score each time.

Progressions:

- Pass to box player and switch roles, with box player dribbling out and looking for next pass.

- Box player passes out of a different side than they received.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Check surroundings to identify your next target

- Communicate to your partner - "who are you passing to?", "who wants the ball?"

- Weight of the pass - "how far away from your partner are you? How does the impact the weight of your pass?"

- "If your partner is on the move, where do we pass the ball to?"

Progression 1 (20 mins)

Progression:

Defender added, who looks to steal the ball from players in larger area (can not enter corner boxes). Once they've stolen the ball, look to score in either of the two mini goals.

Progression 2 (20 mins)

Progression:

- Players removed from two of the corner boxes. Join in larger area with ball.

- Two defenders now attempting to steal ball from attackers. If the defenders can complete a pass with solen ball before scoring, counts at 3 points.

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

- 3v3 with one ball.

- Create second field if numbers allow.

- Three gate goals at either end.

Instructions:

- Team in possession looks to score by passing the ball through any of the oppositions gate goals.

- Once a goal is scored, defending team restarts with pass in.

- If multiple fields/teams, look to rotate teams after 2 min games.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Maximize field, create space for you and your team mate on the ball.

- Create passing lane/angle for you to receive in.

- Identify your target before you receive, and try to release pass early rather than dribbling to it.

Regressions/Progressions:

R- Wider gates

R- Team that scored must touch a cone before they can resume.

Match (30 mins)

Organization:

- 3 teams

- Mini goals

Instructions:

- 3v3 winner stays on.

- First team to two goals, or two minute games. If tied, team on longest comes off.

- Pass in on restarts.

- Team resting act as bounce players.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- What is your role/next move once you've passed the ball?

- Look to draw defender in before passing the ball.

Regressions/Progressions:

P - bounce player can join in attack when receiving the ball, creating 4v3 scenario.
