Learning Objectives

Technical Technical
Passing & Recieving using all surfaces of our foot.
Technical Physical
Playing with our heads up so we dont run into another group or lose the ball.
Technical Psychological
Finding good passing lanes

Intro (10 mins)

Organization:

  • 40x30
  • groups of 3. 1 ball per group

Instructions:

  • Groups of 3. 1 ball each.
  • Passing and receiving.
  • Working on first touch and ball retention. 
  • Triangle passing.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Can we find an open teammate?
  • Can we find open space and a good passing lane?
  • Use all surfaces of your foot to pass and receive. (Inside, outside, laces etc.)
  • Playing with our heads up.

Regressions/Progressions:

  • If less numbers use groups of two.
  • Apply max number of touches allowed while on the ball.
  • Use commands of using only one foot or the other.

Learning Objectives

Technical Technical
Passing & Receiving. Making sure our first touch doesnt get away from us.
Technical Tactical
Working together as a team to retain the ball and not give it up to the defending team.
Technical Psychological
When defending if we win the ball can we go right onto attack and try to score a goal.

Main (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 40x30
  • 3 Teams of 3

Instructions:

  • 3 Teams of 3. 1 ball in play.
  • 2 offensive teams and 1 defending team.
  • Offensive teams work together to keep possession.
  • 5 Successful passes equal a point
  • Defending team if you win the ball try to score in any of the 4 goals around the perimeter.
  • Each team plays on defense for 3 mins. Keep track of your score.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Can we find the open passing lanes?
  • Can we keep the ball from the defending team when on offense?
  • Passing and moving as a team.
  • Offensive team 5 passes equal a goal.
  • Defending team can you turn defense into attack and score a goal when you win the ball?

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P: Make the pass limit higher.
  • Apply a touch limit.
  • Make space bigger if needed.

Learning Objectives

Technical Technical

Can we beat a man in a 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 situation
Technical Psychological
Win the ball and attack the goal. Find the open teammate through a positive passing lane.

Conditioned (20 mins)

Organization:

  • 40x30
  • 2 Teams. 1 Goalie.

Instructions:

  • 2 Teams. Give each player a number 1-4.
  • Coach kicks a ball into play and shouts out a group of numbers. (Etc 2,3). Those players run onto the field try to win the ball and attack the goal. If team that starts defending wins the ball they then become the attacking team and try to score in the big goal.
  • If ball goes out of play at anytime. Restart play with a new group of players called out.
  • Make sure its atleast 2v2.
  • First team to a set amount of goals first wins.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • When called onto the field, can we get to the ball first and then keep retention of the ball?
  • Can our teammates help us on offense by getting into a good passing lane?
  • How is our first touch?
  • Can we score a goal?
  • Defending team can we win the ball back and then go on the attack?

Regressions/Progressions:

  • Add more players to each round.
  • Add number of goals to win.
  • P: Can only score if your team makes a pass first.
  • R: Put two balls in play and first team to score with their ball gets the point.

Learning Objectives

Technical Psychological
Open match. Can we take what we learned through the session and portray it into a game like situation.

Match (30 mins)

Organization:

  • 40x30
  • 2 pugg goals next to eachother on each end of the field

Instructions:

  • Fifa rules
  • Open match. Two halves
  • If uneven numbers have a player neutral or have on team play man down in first half then in second half let them have the man advantage.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Can we find an open teammate?
  • Can we find open space and a good passing lane?
  • Use all surfaces of your foot to pass and receive. (Inside, outside, laces etc.)
  • Playing with our heads up.
  • Can we score a goal?

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P/R: Have a neutral player.
  • Make space bigger if needed.
