Organization:
- Create an area 30 x 25 pitch with a 10 yard wide channel alongside each touch line (the Goal Zone).
- 4 v 4: End Zone Game
- cones & pinnies
- soccer balls
Instructions:
The aim of this SSG is to further develop the movement skills and first touch of players in a competitive environment.
Play starts with a RED team player taking a throw in from within the end zone. Red team seek to dribble the ball into the opposite end zone. Upon doing so, the player who has dribbled into the end zone picks the ball up and takes a throw in to restart the game; now attacking the opposite goal zone.
If the ball goes out of play, or a team travel across the end zone to score, play is restarted with a throw in.
Coaching Points:
- communication very important from the attacker
- attack empty space with speed
- ball to feet is preferred (chest or head are secondary options)

Organization:
-half field
-pug nets/goals
-soccer balls
Instructions:
-Reds would be playing a 4-4-2 formation. In this activity they are playing without full backs.
Progression:
-add 4 defenders who if win possession can score on pug nets
Option 1 - Left Side of Pitch
Centre Back plays a bounce pass with Centre Midfielder. Pass is then played into the Strikers feet. The Winger moves off his line and in front of the Striker to receive a lay off pass. Option then of Shooting First Time or Driving Into the Box and Shooting.
.Coaching Points:
-Quality of Passes needs to be high so that the drill flows smoothly and is realistic.
-Winger makes double movement - first movement away up the line to throw off a potential defender, second movement back inside to receive infront of Striker.
-Strikers movement before pass is made to him, double movement away from the Cb and then check back towards
-Strikers movement after Lay Off is away from goal, always looking at the ball with open body position potentially to receive a pass if the CB stays central
Option 2 - Right Side of Pitch
Centre Back plays straight into Strikers feet, who sets the ball back to the Centre Midfielder. Centre Midfielder then plays a through pass for the Winger to move on too and Cross. Striker gets into the box.
Coaching Points:
-Centre Midfielder needs double movement towards CB to draw opposition midfielder in, then check back quickly to receive the set back from the Striker
-Striker needs double movement away from CB then back towards in time with the pass
-Winger needs double movement, towards CB/CM and then spin away up the line for the pass
-Striker gets into the box and attacks the cross

Organization:
-Create a pitch 60 x 40 yds with a 10 yard channel running alongside each side of the pitch.
-Split players into two teams - red team with 9 players (4-3-1) and a blue team with 8 players (3-3-1) - both teams playing with a GK.
Aim:
To provide an opportunity for players to develop their technique of throw ins and movement to be able to receive the ball.
Instructions:
Game proceeds as normal except that if a player dribbles into, or is passed to inside, the either shaded area, he is able to proceed unopposed within the shaded area. Play recommences by that player making a throw in.
Progressions
Who should take the throw in in a 4-3-1? Allow which ever player dribbles into, or is passed to, within the shaded area, to make the ball available to either the Red LB /RB to take the throw. When wouldn't they take the throw in? If the red team are attacking quickly?
Coaching Points:
- communication very important from the attacker
- attack empty space with speed
- ball to feet is preferred (chest or head are secondary options)
