Pass and Move Warmup w/ Defensive Movement (10 mins)
Warmup Exercise
Approx. half or 1/3 of players have a ball at their feet.
Dribble around the designated area, performing various movements
- pass to open players - encourage communication
Note: After pass the passer runs to close down receiver — jockey with them for a couple seconds then release
- CPs: low, fast to five, low to five, side on body angle, deny penetration, force to one side, body weight 60/40
Periodically halt play and have players perform dynamic stretches
- sweep the grass, open/close gates, lunges, shuffles
Have players change pace (slower and faster) and leave their feet (balancing on one foot is important)
CPs: focus on the upcoming training session, touches on the ball, activate muscles and central nervous system, connect with teammates and coaching staff
