BPOBP Forward Pass
Aim
Focus on playing forward after BPO>BP transition
- scoring rules of the game also promote building slower attacks and positional rotations
Players
Works best I feel with a 5v5 or 6v6 although you could have a "plus 1" neutral in the middle zone form uneven numbers
Process
- 3 zone game but none of the players are locked into playing zones themselves
- mini goals facing back towards the end
Scoring
- End player can score first time into one of the mini goals (replicate a set back to supporting player)
- Carry across the end line if received in the endline (stops player unrealistically protecting the goals rather than the space behind them)
Progression on this can be to allow receiving in the end zone (yellow) if from a third man run following a combinnation with the end player (as per picture)
Coaching Areas
- Position of the end player in relation to the ball to allow for quick transition
- Body shape and use of body to protect and pass to supporting players by end player
- Decision making of when to play forward and when not too
- Positional Rotations
- Supporting runs underneath and beyond (for scoring progression)
Progression of the Practice
- Introduce fullsize goals and goalkeepers
- Remove the mini goals and replace with "gates" which the BP side gets extra points should a goal be scored if CF connects with support players before a goal is scored
Regression of the Practice
- remove the mini goals, lock players into their zones when out of possesion; scoring by connecting with the end player. Can then add back in the mini goals
