1v1 Goalkeeping Session
KEY FACTORS:
- defend the goal
- defend the space
- be on the front foot
- decision making: when to dive on the feet? when to block? when to decrease/increase speed?
- bravery/confidence/commitment/control
- spreading/smoothering/blocking

1v1 TECHNICAL (15 mins)
1. A goalkeeper is starting in mini goal and work on basic 1v1 technic from 3 different angles
- come off the line and smoother the ball ( no pressure/ just pass towards the goal)
- dive on coach feet (coach run 1v1 pass the ball towards goalie and put little pressure on him)
PROGRESSION:
- Play live and try to score past keeper from a few different angles on small goal/ always try to dribble around keeper
- Set a time limit for coach (striker) to do it fastest possible and realistic pace
COACHING POINTS: 1v1 technic/ smothering the ball/ decision making/increase/decrease speed/ front foot/delay striker/ distance between GK & striker/ positioning

MAIN SESSION IN GOAL (25mins)
1v1/SHOOTSTOPPING + INTRODUCTION TO BLOCKING
1. GK is starting in the middle of the goal, Coach says colours. GK has to go with the block to one of the colours.
- start with small block only/ progress to long block (yellow), small block (red)
- try to mix colours/ add some creative ideas
2. Follow with shoot or 1v1 behind blue cones.
- try to shoot/1v1 from different angles
- time limit with 1v1
PROGRESSION
- Can add 2 small goals and ask GK to distribute when the ball caught.
- Can try to run towards GK and shoot from close range to test blocking knowledge
COACHING POINTS : technic of long/ small block/ quick footwork/ set & starting position/ dealing with 1v1 and shoots/ positioning/

BASIC HANDLING & FOOTWORK WARM UP (20 mins)
1. Start with GK with the ball and do the following exercises in the square : (5mins)
- jogging with the ball/football moves
- bounce the ball/ left&right hand/shoulder/both hands
- side steps with the ball
- knees up/heel up with the ball
- jumping with the ball
- stretching etc.
2. FOOTWORK + BASIC HANDLING (15mins)
- footwork over the cones/hurdles (vary your footwork and pass the ball/catch the ball) - try to do variations each time when do this warm up
- PASS W, SCOOP , CUP , HIGH CATCH , LOW DIVE, HIGH DIVE
