Build Rondo (20 mins)

  • Set Up: Rectangle Field, green lines, 18-yard box width. GK, squad's main 2 & 3, and one of designated subs for next game on the outside as bouncers, the other designated sub inside as bouncer

Instructions: Each controlled possession passes to three separate outside bouncers counts as a goal.

Variation/Progression: Each controlled possession transitions between 2 and 3 counts as a goal.

Build Game-Training (20 mins)

Set Up: Square outside 18-yard box. D-area is GK's possession zone only, no other player allowed. Goalkeeper, 2 and 3 for next game/priority development on either flank, and two designated subs for next game inside as bouncers. Three goals for GK + Build-Out team, main goal but one touch finish for offensive team.

Instructions: Either get 10 passes or transition to both fullbacks before getting a shot at goal - Build-Out team, in red, are attacking three goals with long/short passes rhetorically to 7, 9/10, and 11, offensive team in blue attacking main goal with first-touch longshot.  

Variation/Progression: Once the criteria of 10 passes or a transition between the two fullbacks has been met, teams can break out of the square.

Build Training-Game (20 mins)

Set Up: Two goals on half way line, either side of the centre circle. To recreate game situation of having difficulty in attempting to penetrate flanks. Use the priority fullbacks in the Build-Out Team, use the designated subs for next game in the offensive team. Coach may play as extra bouncer on half way line for offensive team, to even out GK with Build-out team.

Instructions: Movements between the 6, 8, 10 of either team to create/explore/find space to receive passes from the defensive players in either team.

Variation/Progression: 3-touch to begin for 3 min, 2-touch for advanced for 3 min, 2-touch with 1-touch finish for mastery for 3 min, 10 minutes of freeplay within rules
