Moves at Mannequin - Drive to Zone
Slow to Medium speed approach, explode to Zone.
Move Set One
- step behind
- scissors
- step over
- doubles
How would a double turn work? Can you do it in such a way as to keep your body between the mannequin and ball?
Some coaching points
- correct technically
- change of speed approach speed vs get past speed
- control entering zone
Shown with mannequins and sticks, instead will be done with triangles for the first two and sticks for the second two. Players that need correction can have less obstruction if bad touch and I can recycle them back through or pull out to work on individually.

1v1 to Zones
1v1 must dribble under control into zone at opposite end.
Can only score in zone at opposite end from starting point.
Can use big zones or small zones or both.
Blue starts the ball with a kick to the red player in the diagonal corner
After turn rotate to other line of same color pinnies.

Before the next indoor game
We need to talk about where the defense is positioning themselves during indoor games.
They are stretching their defensive net to far and the holes are too big letting big fish though.
In other words be brave and step up to the forward/wingers and deny then the ball to feet. Be wary of the space behind you. GK is gonna need to step up too to help protect the space behind the defensive line. Stop the ball high in the middle third if possible.
Playing in a 3-2-1 formation, a line up for this could be ( I think I started the game like this last week):
#4 Center Back = Kali
#2 Attacking Right Wing Back = Lily
#3 Attacking Left Wing Back Gracie
#6 Defensive or Holding Center Midfielder = Regan
#10 Attacking or Offensive Center Midfielder = Avery
#9 Center Forward = Lauren
#1 Goalkeeper = Sydney

Compact
Notice how our #4, 2 and 3 have stepped up to the other teams players and are ready to contest that ball as it gets there not after they receive it, This is better team shape. We are compact and close enough together to provide Cover for the Pressure but because it's indoor and those pesky walls, we need to give a little more depth. Also due to the smaller size of the teams, our Blue #4 can provide cover for #3 and mind the Red #9. At least until she drops in behind the line because there isn't offside. But let us contest balls to feet further up the field rather than waiting for them to receive them then running at us. We will just have to be constantly ready to get back to deal with long through balls. And our GK will play higher up when there is little danger of a shot to clean up any over hit through balls. From an attacking perspective, they are playing between our defensive line and our mid field line. We must close that space down while still being able to recover for through balls int the space behind the def line. Like this we can better keep the ball out of our third and in their third.
