DEFENDING FINAL THIRD/ PENALTY BOX TOOLBOX DRILL
Blue players are defenders and red players attackers in a 44 x 36 yard area.
Blue initially plays the ball to red attacker as shown , blue returns pass to the central area where red attacker receives can decide to pass through the gate an attack the far goal and get initial shot off which opposite blue defender must defend against. Second option for attacker is to turn and play/dribble directly toward near side goals where initial blue defender must defend that goal.
Progression 1
When initial red attacker receives the ball he can play a diagonal pass to the secondary red striker and the game becomes a 2 v 1
Progression 2
as above however the initial passing defender must recover in a 2v 2 scenario
