Decision Making & Speed

Purpose

To improve decision making and use of speed to create goal chances

Set Up

Two teams with a ball to each player. Two goals set up at the opposite end. A shooting line 6 yards from goal. Goals cannot be scored from outside the shooting line.

The red player attacks against the blue player and gets inside the 6 yard shooting line to score. The red player now become the defender versus the oncoming blue player.

As soon as the attacker shoots, scores, misses or loses possession he immediately becomes the defender against the oncoming attacker.

Ensure the attackers attack on both sides.

Key Points

Use skill and feint moves to enter the shooting zone.

When recovering to defend turn 'inside' and not 'outside' where they have your back to the field and have to cover more ground to defend the opposite goal.

If you can get inside the shooting zone on speed alone then do so.
