1 v 1 Technique: Groups of 4. 1 ball. DO NOT LET THEM SCORE
1) Play will start with a pass to his partner's feet. 2) Defender will now "get there quick and arrive under control." by A) taking an approach angle that forces play 1 way. (away from center of goal, his weak foot, away from his passing options, into our defenders, B) Correct distance away from Attacker that puts him under pressure and doesnt allow the attacker to beat him with a long touch. C) Stance correct D) Eyes on ball

1 v1 to End Line: DO NOT LET THEM SCORE
Groups of 4. 1 group works while the other rest. The Att tries to beat the Def by dribbiling the ball over the end line. Play is dead if the Def 1) wins the ball or 2) the ball goes over the line.

Defending an Opponent that has their back to Goal: DO NOT LET THEM SCORE
Don't Let the Player Turn!!!!
A) Stay touch tight: One arms distance. Too close= player can turn on you AND you can't see the ball.
Too Far= the player can turn and get faced up.
B) Stay low: It helps you see the ball and it prepares your body to run
C) Watch the ball: If you watch sholders and hips you will get deceived.
D) Leave a foot in the path of the ball: If the player dummy's the ball, your foot will stop his turn.
E) Be aggressive without fouling. Be as annoying as possible.
F) Stay Goal Side: Never give away the goal
G) Be Patient
H) Obstruct and Retreat: Retreat, taking away dangerous space

Defending a 2 v 1: DO NOT LET THEM SCORE
1) Delay: The longer you delay the more time you give your team to get back. Sometimes this men's retreating a little. As you retreat, keep your body between the ball and the goal.
2) Pick your moment: The moment you can turn your 2v1 into a 1v1, do it. Seal their teammate off!
3) Play good 1v1:

1 v 2: Pressure/Cover: DO NOT LET THEM SCORE
1) Pressure: 1st Defender: A) Don't get beat on the Dribble B) Make the Att. predictable
2) Cover: 2nd Defender: A) Stop the ball if the 1st Def gets beat on the dribble
B) Prevent a penetrating pass that would split the 1st and 2nd Defenders.
1) Play starts when 1 Def plays the ball to the ATT 2) 1st Defender (Pressure) COMMUNICATES "I'm In!" 3) 2nd Defender (Cover) closes the space that A) is not to far away from 1st D to make 2, 1 v 1 situations B) Isn't so close that 1 long touch can beat both 1st and 2nd Def's. C) Prevents the 1st and 2nd Def from getting split. 4) 2nd Def. (Cover) Communicates that he is there and which direction to force the Att. "I got 2nd!" "Keep them towards sideline!" 5) If 1st Def gets beat on dribble, 2nd Def steps and 1st Def recovers and now becomes cover. 6) Attacker wins if he can dribble the ball over the endline.
Progression:
-Have the two defenders start at different angles
-place a goal in the middle of the field so the attacker can try and score by dribbling or passing through the goal. Defenders should not allow the attcker to split them with a dribble or a pass.
