3v2 into 3v1

Description

Phase 1 (on the right) is set up as a 2v1 followed by two 1v1's. One attackers moves into the next box as the ball is played in to a teammate. This session focuses on creating 2v1s and 3v1 in the favor of the attacking team but the coaching points should focus on supporting moves. The movement of the attacker in each 1v1 box is critical for success as they have to create enough space to receive a pass. In the example shown, 1-touch passing allows the Red team to quickly get past the Blue team and into a 2v1 to goal.

Phase 2 starts with a 3v2. The Red team must get the ball into the sole striker and then quickly rush to support him and create a 3v1 to goal.

Overload Game

Description

The game starts when the centre midfielder collects a ball at halfway. In it's basic form, this game is a 6v5 plus a GK. As the CM collects the ball, defenders 1 and 2 must run from the edge of the box around their respective corner flag and then get back into play. During this time, the Red team must exploit the 6v3 situation.

If the Red team surrender possession, the 3 Neutral players (N) in black shirts switch to the Blue team and play an 8v3 attempting to score in the small nets either side of the centre circle.
