Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): January Week 3 - 1v1/2v2 - Weds defending

Station 1 - 2v1/2v2 (20 mins)

Organization: 1v1/ 2v2

- Play always starts with the defender passing out to attacker.

- Defender moves out and the player compete 1v1.

- Attacker can score in either of the target goals but can't score until in the end zone.

- When the defender wins the ball, they look to attack the big goal and score as quick as possible.

- Once the attack breaks down the defender joins the attackers line and the attacker joins defenders.

- Attackers get 1 point for a goal , Defenders get 3 points per goal.

Progressions:

P2 - 2 x 1v1 battles at the same time.

P3 - 2 attackers vs 2 defenders

P4 - 2 attackers vs 1 defender ( 2nd defender joins after 6 seconds ) - Recovery run

Coaching Points:

- Put pressure on the ball & get on the line of the ball to the goal.

- Recognise opportunities to pinch the ball - BE PATIENT

- Use body to win the ball back, shield & protect

- Don't be happy when the attackers have the ball.

- When you win it - How quickly can you get a shot on the goal ?

IF THEY GET IT

- 2nd defender - Cover TM & What if he gets beat, are you in a position to help ?

- Delay the attack - which allows 2nd defender the time to join

4v4 Games (20 mins)

Organisation - 4v4 - Players are locked into their zones making each half 2v2. Players can't score until they get into the endzone.

If odd number - 4v4+1 magicman - Players locked into their half creating 2v2 in each half. Magicman plays for team in possession & can play in either half to create 3v2 advantage to the attacking side.

Game lasts for 3 minutes - If you keep a clean sheet you get 3 goals added to your score.

Transition

- When you win the ball in defensive 3rd can you find a TM in attacking 3rd quickly ?
