Team Training (20 mins)

18 Minutes

2 x 4 Minutes WORK + 2 Minutes REST

Key Factors

- Find the spare man in MF3

- Use the switch of play to break down the low block

- Defensive balance when FBs are high

- Variation of crosses from wide areas

Organisation

Blue Team - 4231 (No GK or CBs)

Red Team - 442 (No ST's)

Offside line - Back 4 don't get too deep.

Blue has CB acting as server (in shaded area) who can only be involved in keeping possession in Block 3.

  • Red GK starts by playing into Server, who starts the practice by playing into one of the CDMs

  • Blues then are to score in the goal
  • If Red regain they must play into mini goals within 8 seconds
  • If Red score they can play from their GK and get another 8 seconds to score
  • If Red miss the mini goals, Blue get ball from server and can counter attack.
Red team will be coached by an assistant.

Block 1 - (4 Minutes) Scenario = Find spare man, defensive balance

The first block will be used to coach the defensive balance when in possession to stop any counter attacks if Blue lose possession, they will also be encouraged to find the spare man through MF3. FB will be encouraged to play high when ball is ball side, opposite side FB will be narrow giving the blue defensive balance. Concurrent feedback and Walkthrough to be used within the rest period.

Block 2 - (4 Minutes) Scenario = Switch Play, role of opposite side FB

Introduction of  if FB gets an assists it counts as 2 goals, this will encourage the team in possession to get the ball into wide areas and FB high. I will use this block to coach how we can get the FB to combine with the wide 10 to get towards the byline, then when the FB gets there what type of crosses he can use. Planned to walkthrough this in the first 2 minutes to allow for opportunity to execute for the remainder of the block.

Block 3 - (4 Minutes) Scenario = False FB, Use of the Server as CB allowed

The rest period before this I will use the Tactics board to show how we can implement a deep cross using the false FB and how we can prepare for this whilst we are switching the play through the CB (Server), use concurrent feed back and individual instruction to help the flow of the block.
